I walk through a narrow street lit by floating orbs of pale gold. There are no lamps, no wires. The orbs drift slowly above the rooftops like quiet watchers. The air feels cool and carries the scent of rain even though the sky is perfectly clear.
At the end of the street I see an archway covered in symbols that shift every time I blink. When I pass under it, the ground turns into soft sand. A vast desert opens in front of me, but the dunes glow faintly from within, as if they hide embers under their surface.
I take a step forward and the sand rises into the shape of a staircase. Each step hardens instantly, forming a path that leads upward into the night sky. I climb without effort until I reach a floating platform made of dark stone. In the center stands a tall mirror with no frame.
When I look inside the mirror, I don’t see myself. Instead I see a huge ocean under a stormy sky. Waves crash loudly, yet I hear nothing. Lightning flashes inside the clouds but never reaches the water. The surface of the mirror begins to ripple.
My hand moves toward it on its own. The moment I touch the mirror, the scene pulls me inside. I fall into the ocean but the water feels warm and calm. A large glowing shape rises from the depths. It’s a whale made entirely of light, its body shifting like liquid stars.
The whale swims around me and creates a circle of shimmering bubbles. When the bubbles burst, I find myself standing back in the desert, but now the sky is full of slow-moving constellations. One constellation rearranges itself into an arrow pointing somewhere far beyond the horizon.
Before I take a step in that direction, the world fades into soft darkness. I wake up with a feeling that something was calling me from very far away.
