In the second window, there is the sea. Blue water. Gentle waves. A huge moon on the horizon. I can smell the salt, even though the window is closed.
In the third, there is a desert. An orange sky. The dunes shift as if alive.
I take a step back, looking at all the windows at once, and they begin to change images. Very quickly. Hundreds of places. Mountains. Forests. Glaciers. Ancient cities. Unknown worlds. I feel a slight dizziness, but not frightening, rather pleasant.
In the middle of the hall stands a round table. On it lies a mask. Simple. White. Smooth. I lift it, and it becomes warm. I put it on, and at that moment, the world around me changes shape.
The hall disappears. I stand in a vast temple. The ceiling fades into darkness. The floor of black stone reflects the light of candles. They burn on their own, without candlesticks. The flame is calm, steady.
Before me appears a slow stream of light, resembling mist. It flows around the mask I am wearing. It seems as if the mist is looking at me. I feel that I could ask it a question, but I don’t have time to realize which one.
The light begins to rise. The mask dissolves from my face. The temple vanishes.
Everything sinks into a soft white light, and I feel a sense of peace, as if I have been searching for this place for a long time.
