I open my eyes and find myself standing on a long wooden pier stretching far into a calm, endless sea. The sky above is a soft mix of pink and blue, like dawn frozen in time. The water is so clear I can see glowing shapes moving slowly beneath the surface, like giant luminous creatures drifting in silence.
I walk forward. The wood under my feet is warm, smooth, almost alive. With every step, faint golden patterns appear on the planks, swirling and fading as I move.
At the end of the pier stands a lantern. It floats a few centimeters above the wood, turning slowly in the air. Its light is gentle and pale, like moonlight caught in glass.
I reach out and touch it. The moment my fingers brush the lantern, the sea around me brightens. Waves of soft light ripple outward. The creatures beneath the water rise closer to the surface, and for a moment I see their silhouettes — graceful, slow, peaceful.
Then the pier begins to dissolve behind me, turning into dust that drifts upward like sparks. But I’m not falling. The lantern lifts itself higher, pulling me gently into the air.
I rise above the ocean. The world grows quiet. The sky opens into a vast expanse filled with floating islands. Each island carries a different landscape — forests, deserts, waterfalls suspended in midair. They drift silently in a slow cosmic dance.
The lantern guides me toward one island covered in giant white flowers. They open as I land, releasing warm, glowing petals that float upward like tiny stars. I touch one petal, and it melts into light on my fingertips.
A soft voice, distant and without a source, whispers a single word:
“Remember.”
The island fades. The sky fades. The light fades.
And I wake with a lingering feeling that I left something important behind.
